Role Summary

The Senior Yield Management Analyst analyzes changes in market conditions, such as capacity, competition, schedules, and fares to develop, implement and track appropriate inventory allocation strategies.

Scope & Complexity

  • This individual contributor role supports yield management analyses for Alaska Air Group (AAG) and its subsidiaries.

Key Duties

  • Analyzes changes in market conditions such as capacity, competition, schedules, and fares to develop, implement and track appropriate inventory allocation strategies

  • Accountable to meet/exceed unit revenue goals, targets and KPIs and communicate performance and business results and trends.

  • Analyzes, monitors, and adjusts demand forecasts by flight, cabin and class.

  • Leverages ability and experience to manage a more challenging scope of markets in terms of fare activity and competitive landscape and help train new analysts.

  • Develops, implements, and assesses complex strategies with little supervision.

  • Identifies seasonal demand fluctuation, including holidays and special events.

  • Adjusts and monitors the demand forecast and communicates results.

  • Develops and effectively communicates market / flight strategies to leadership team and teammates.

  • Proactively and effectively communicates with pricing, planning, stations, and other stakeholders and understands the implications of actions and reactions.

  • Monitors and adjusts overbooking levels based on historical no-show and cancellation rates to meet KPIs in terms of denied boarding and spoilage.

  • Communicates revenue management and overbooking strategies with assigned airport station management team.

  • Leverages expertise with revenue management tools, forecast systems, databases and processes.

  • Manipulates large data sources to analyze large business questions by manipulating data sources to create actionable analysis and/or reports.

  • Monitors KPI performance and adjusts and communicates strategies needed to meet goals.

  • Recommends and implements improvements to processes and reports.

  • Represent revenue management perspective at meetings and on projects with other departments and external vendors.

  • Performs complex ad hoc projects and reports.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job-Specific Skills


  • A minimum of 2 years of pricing/revenue management experience or 3 years of experience in an analytical role; will waive one year of analytical experience with a Master's degree.

  • A Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree, with a focus in business administration, economics, statistics, mathematics, industrial engineering, or a related discipline, is required.

  • A creative problem-solver, with the ability to take calculated risks and assume responsibility for results.

  • Ability to balance multiple projects and prioritize in a dynamic environment.

  • Expertise with data analysis programs (e.g., Excel, Access, Business Objects or Brio).

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.)

  • Ability to extract, interpret, and present large quantities of data in a clear and concise manner.

  • Excellent communication (e.g., verbal, written, and listening) and analytical skills.

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.


  • Prior airline experience in revenue management, revenue analysis, pricing, or planning.

  • A passion for the airline industry and willingness to learn.
