POSITION INFORMATION

Role Summary Do you love to write? No matter what the topic, you're able to put it into words that get to the point while delivering personality. Do you enjoy bringing fresh thinking, elevated creativity and great ideas to every assignment? Can you tweet with empathy and write a caption that steals the show from the image? Alaska Airlines is seeking a talented and passionate Senior Copywriter to join our in-house studio team. This role will be responsible for messaging, tone of voice, and copywriting for a wide range of initiatives and tactics. You'll represent the voice of Alaska Airlines and participate in team meetings, creative brainstorms, and presentations to key stakeholders.

Scope & Complexity As an individual contributor with a great deal of autonomy this role will be responsible for planning, researching, and developing powerful copy for a wide range of company initiatives.

Key Duties

  • Helps to define and "owns" the voice and tone for Alaska Airlines

  • Composes and edits copy for a wide variety of advertising and marketing communication projects (e.g., social content, digital media, sponsorship activations, sales presentations, brochures, menus, onboard and at-gate announcements, etc.).

  • Collaborates with marketing managers, product owners, and designers to craft strategic messaging for their initiatives.

  • Ensures all copy is strategic and targeted to specific market demographics/psychographics to powerfully represent our brand.

  • Writes short and long-form pieces with a high degree of conceptual creativity and verbal polish.

  • Provides best practice guidance for effective copywriting and raises the bar for how our brand is expressed across all communication tactics.

  • Demonstrates a passion for social content, marketing and advertising with experience that spans all facets of communications.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills Required

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working as a writer in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary design or marketing team.

  • A knack for changing customer perceptions and behavior with compelling copy.

  • Ability to comfortably and confidently present to all levels within the organization in both written and verbal communication.

  • Impeccable attention to detail, with excellent grammar and copywriting skills.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.

  • Fluent in English with a proven track record of presenting to and influencing management.

  • Ability to think and act both strategically and tactically. The successful candidate will be a tenacious self-starter with a passion for branding, who can serve as a strong advocate for our customers.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Ability to conceptualize and execute projects, with strong bias for action.

  • An awesome, collaborative attitude and a drive to do breakthrough work

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred

  • A Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree, with a focus in communications, marketing, advertising, business administration, or a related discipline.

  • Strategy background, preferably with experience working with premium brands.

  • Experience naming new products and creating messaging platforms.

  • Advertising or creative agency experience.

  • Social content development
