Role Summary The Financial Systems Analyst II is a part of the delivery and support team focused in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Integration, software selection, business process improvement and automation. Acting as the day to day functional point-of-contact, this analyst is responsible to review, analyze and evaluate user needs to formulate and implement solutions that address business strategies. This analyst works on projects across divisions and ensures strategic goals, timelines, and project specifications are met while bringing, sharing, and maintaining professional expertise on financial related systems, data integration, and SaaS solutions.

Scope & Complexity This individual contributor role, in partnership with a team of analysts, routinely exercises discretion as they liaise with business partners to solve routine to moderately complex problems and improve processes for the Alaska Air Group (AAG).

Key Duties

  • Serves as PeopleSoft subject matter expert supporting General Ledger, Asset Management, Accounts Payable, or Purchasing modules.

  • Interacts with business customers (internal and external) to understand and document their business processes and requirements.

  • Performs all phases of ERP application development lifecycle including requirements analysis, fit/gap, design, development, test and deployment.

  • Creates and maintains business requirements documents, system configuration documents, detailed functional specification documents, test plans and test cases, user training documents and implementation documentation as necessary.

  • Performs all phases of application testing including system, integration, parallel; ensures issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner.

  • Works collaboratively with development teams to design, test and implement system modifications and ensures successful delivery of the work products.

  • Maintains awareness of existing and new functionality, identifies areas where business processes depart from delivered PeopleSoft 9.1 and 9.2 software solutions and recommends areas for improvement.

  • Gains knowledge of business practices, regulations, workflows, and systems design in the assigned subject matter area; understands configurations and integration between functional areas.

  • Provides ongoing analysis, maintenance, and functional support for Financial systems throughout the organization.

  • Liaises with technical support and finance team end-users to resolve moderately complex system errors/inquiries.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job-Specific Requirements, Skills and Education Required

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience with functional analysis supporting PeopleSoft Financials or another large enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

  • Ability to quickly learn processes and systems.

  • Competency with business analysis principles, processes, and procedures.

  • Strong time management skills.

  • Passionate about business being done right with the ability to produce timely and accurate results.

  • A self-starter who takes ownership of their work and excels with minimum supervision.

  • A strong disposition for customer service supported by excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills.

  • Willingness to learn from and return value to Finance stakeholders by working collaboratively with others and as part of a team.

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.


  • PeopleSoft experience in a functional/business analyst or support role:

  • PeopleSoft query skills

  • PeopleSoft Financials Data Model

  • PeopleSoft security

  • PeopleSoft implementations/upgrades in 9.X

  • Oracle PUM continuous delivery, selective adoption model

  • Airline experience.

  • Understanding of the business; P2P (Procure to Pay), Financial Reporting or Accounting.

  • A Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree, with a focus in Finance, Accounting or Information Technology.
